It’s really not that hard…. Measure about ¼ cup raw almonds into a glass or ceramic bowl.
Cover with filtered water.
In the morning pour off the water and pop the almonds out of their skins. (This step seems tedious, and its well worth it.)
These can be stored in the fridge in a small bowl of water for up to a week. They may start to sprout. Use them for salads or cereal or just snacking.
The soaking process to remove the skins also removes the tannins inside the skins. These tannins act as inhibitors for the natural enzymes living in the seed itself. By soaking and removing the covering, the almonds become easier to digest and have more active nutrients in them. If left in water for a few days, they begin to sprout. This increases their nutritional value 100 fold by activating the growth process inside them.
